


The Bangladesh Coast Guard has held a press briefing in Daulatkhan upazila to outline security measures ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum–2026, aimed at ensuring peace and order in coastal and riverine areas.
According to a press release issued by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, the briefing took place on Sunday (February 1) at 11am at Government Abu Abdullah College under Daulatkhan Police Station in Bhola district.
The briefing was addressed by Captain Mohammad Arif Hossain, AFWC, PSC, BN, Zonal Commander (South Zone) of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
He said that since its establishment, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has played a vital role in ensuring security across the country’s vast maritime, coastal and riverine areas. Through regular operations to protect lives and property, the force has earned the trust of coastal communities.
Captain Arif Hossain said the Coast Guard is fully prepared to ensure that the national election and referendum scheduled for February 12 are held in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
As part of the election security plan, Coast Guard personnel will remain deployed for 28 days from January 18 to February 14, particularly at polling centres in remote and strategically important coastal and riverbank areas.
He added that special measures, including intelligence operations, drone surveillance, regular patrols and legal action, are being carried out at 115 sensitive and high-risk polling centres. These centres are located in Bhola Sadar, Daulatkhan, Tajumuddin, Char Fasson, Monpura, Mehendiganj, Hatia, Baufal, Rangabali, Kalapara and Ramgati upazilas under the South Zone.
The Coast Guard will also continue to support other law enforcement agencies and the local administration to ensure overall security and protect the lives and property of citizens, regardless of religion or background, in areas under its jurisdiction.
