Local BNP leader killed in Kurigram truck accident

A local BNP leader and former army member was killed on Wednesday morning after being crushed by a stone-laden truck at the Taramon Bibi intersection in Kurigram town.

The deceased, Nazrul Islam (55), was a resident of the Dharlar Par area in Jatrapur Union and a member of the Jatrapur Union BNP convening committee. Witnesses reported that the accident occurred around 11:00 AM while Nazrul was riding his motorcycle toward the town. A truck carrying stones ran over him at the intersection, killing him on the spot.

Police arrived shortly after the incident, recovered the body, and prepared an inquest report. While the truck involved in the accident was seized by authorities, the driver managed to flee the scene.

Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that legal proceedings are currently underway.
