A search operation is underway for a Sukani (navigator) who went missing after falling from a sand-laden bulkhead into the Padma River in Charbhadrasan, Faridpur.

The incident occurred around 11:00 AM on Wednesday near the Tilarchar and Sabulla Sikder Dangi area.

The missing man has been identified as Arif Sheikh (46), son of Mujibar Sheikh from Alfadanga upazila. Arif, a father of three, was returning after unloading sand at the CNB Ghat port when the accident happened.

A two-member diving team from the Faridpur Fire Brigade conducted a search from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM but found no trace of Arif.

The rescue operation was temporarily suspended on Wednesday evening due to fading light and river conditions. Mortaza Fakir, leader of the Charbhadrasan Fire Brigade, confirmed that the search will resume early Thursday morning.

Nasim Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of the Faridpur CNB Ghat Naval Police, stated that naval police teams are present at the spot and are coordinating with the fire service to locate the missing person.
