Customs officials at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have seized a large consignment of foreign cigarettes valued at approximately Tk 3 million. The seizure took place on Monday evening during inspections of two separate flights arriving from the United Arab Emirates.

The items were recovered from US-Bangla Airlines (BS-344) arriving from Dubai and Air Arabia (G-9520) arriving from Sharjah. A total of 1,514 cartons of foreign cigarettes were confiscated by authorities.

On the Dubai flight, four passengers—Mizanur Rahman, Md. Redowan, Rezaul Karim, and Salahuddin—were found carrying a combined total of 989 cartons. An additional 525 cartons were recovered from the Sharjah flight, though no owner was identified for this portion of the haul.

The seized cigarettes have been moved to the Chattogram Customs House warehouse under a formal Detention Memo (DM). Customs authorities are currently processing the case following standard legal procedures for the illegal importation of tobacco products.
