


Customs officials at Shah Amanat International Airport seized 120 grams of gold from a passenger arriving from Dubai on Tuesday night. The estimated market value of the recovered ornaments is Tk 21,59,920.
The incident occurred involving Md. Abu Zahed, a passenger on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG148. According to Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, the gold was first detected at approximately 8:30 PM during a routine scan at the cargo terminal.
Following the initial detection, a formal verification process was conducted. At 12:30 AM, a professional goldsmith confirmed the purity and weight of the metal, leading to the official seizure under departmental memorandum.
The seized gold has been handed over to the Chattogram Customs House for permanent custody. The process was completed in the presence of a C&F (Clearing and Forwarding) agent to ensure legal compliance.
