In a major strategic move ahead of the upcoming national elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalized an electoral understanding with seven allied parties. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir officially announced the allocation of eight parliamentary seats to these partners during a press conference held at the Chairperson’s Gulshan office this afternoon.

The electoral arrangement features prominent leaders from the "anti-fascist movement": Patuakhali-3 & Jhenaidah-4: Nurul Haque Nur and Rashed Khan (Gono Odhikar Parishad). Bogura-2: Mahmudur Rahman Manna (Nagorik Oikya). Dhaka-12: Saiful Huq (Revolutionary Workers Party). Brahmanbaria-6: Zonayed Saki (Gono Sanghati Andolon). Pirojpur-1: Mostafa Jamal Haider (Jatiya Party - Kazi Zafar). Narail-2: Fariduzzaman Farhad (NPP). Jashore-5: Mufti Rashid Bin Waqqas (Islami Oikya Jote).

Mirza Fakhrul clarified the technicalities of the alliance parties in the electoral understanding will contest using their own respective party symbols.

Candidates who have formally joined the BNP, such as Redwan Ahmed (Cumilla-7) and Bobby Hajjaj (Dhaka-13), will contest under the BNP's "Sheaf of Paddy" (Dhaner Sheesh) symbol.

The Secretary General emphasized that while this list is a significant step, discussions are ongoing, and further seat-sharing decisions may be announced in the coming days.

Political analysts suggest that the inclusion of younger leaders like Nurul Haque Nur and Rashed Khan signifies the BNP's intent to consolidate the "Generation Z" vote bank. Furthermore, the formal joining of Bobby Hajjaj (NDM) is expected to bolster the alliance's appeal in urban Dhaka constituencies.

Sources within the alliance indicate that a secondary list focusing on the remaining 20-party alliance members may be released by the end of the week.
