


Defying hostile weather, the people and administration of Tangail observed 'July Mass Uprising Day' on Wednesday with day-long programmes to honour the martyrs and heroes of the 2024 movement.
The day began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by placing floral wreaths at the newly installed July Monument at the district helipad. Following a minute of silence and special prayers for the martyrs also a rally proceeded to the Shilpakala Academy for a formal discussion and reception honoring the July fighters and martyrs' families.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku MP graced the discussion as the chief guest and Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque presiding.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Farazi Muhammad Mahbubul Alam Manju, District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen and former member secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu also addressed the gathering. Notably, around 35 July fighters took the stage to share their experiences and reflections.
University Observance
Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) also organized comprehensive programmes to mark the day. The campus witnessed a colourful celebratory procession, wreath-laying ceremonies, cultural events and special feasts in the student halls.
The university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. ABM Islam and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anisur Rahman, led the campus events, joined by deans, the registrar, hall provosts, teachers, students and staff in a unified display of remembrance and solidarity.
