State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has warned that any attempt to destabilize the country or create public chaos will face a "crushing response" through united public resistance.
Speaking as the chief guest at a rally organized by the District BNP at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park in Tangail on Friday afternoon, Tuku accused ousted political forces of conspiring from abroad to undermine national peace. The rally was held to protest what the party termed "orchestrated terror and subversion."
"Having been ousted by the people, a certain group fled to a neighboring country after years of enforced disappearances, murders and repression" said Tuku, who represents the Tangail Sadar constituency. "Today, they are trying to regain traction through fresh tactics but those conspiring against the people's rights are living in a fool's paradise."
Highlighting the party's 17-year movement for voting rights and democracy, Tuku urged BNP leaders and grassroots activists to remain vigilant on the streets.
Presided over by Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shahin and moderated by Mahmudul Haque Sanu, the event saw large processions converge at the venue. Senior leaders from the BNP and its associate bodies Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Mohila Dal were present at the demonstration.
