


Marking the historical significance of the mass movement Morelganj upazila observed "July Uprising Day-2026" on August 5 under the theme "Building a country with the spirit of July - Bangladesh first."
The day’s programs began at 9:00 AM when local administration officials laid wreaths and offered prayers at the grave of July martyr Mahfuzur Rahman.
To honor the families of the martyrs and injured participants the upazila administration organized a special discussion at the Upazila Conference Room. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Habibullah chaired the event, with local Member of Parliament Principal Md. Abdul Alim attending as the chief guest.
Speakers reflected on the profound sacrifices made during the uprising. They urged citizens to work unitedly embracing the spirit of the movement to build a renewed equitable Bangladesh.
The gathering brought together a wide array of local stakeholders. Attendees included Morelganj Police Station OC Md. Mahmudur Rahman freedom fighters local political figures from BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami anti-discrimination student organizers, journalists and civil society representatives.
To engage the younger generation in the day's significance an essay competition was held at the secondary education office for students across various institutions concluding with a prize distribution ceremony.
