


Paikgachha upazila in Khulna respectfully observed the July Uprising Day on Wednesday August 5 honoring the martyrs of the mass movement.
The day’s programs began with morning tributes at the graves of martyrs Nabi Nur Morol and Rakibul Hasan in the Chandkhali and Raruli areas. Following the tributes, the Upazila administration hosted a reception discussion and cultural competitions at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
The main event commenced with a one-minute silence for the fallen heroes, followed by a prayer session led by Maulana Ashraful Islam. Upazila Social Service Officer Anath Kumar Biswas delivered the welcome address.
Retired Secretary Touhidur Rahman attended as the chief guest. Special guests included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Fazle Rabbi Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Awal Hossain, local BNP and Jamaat leaders, and Rebecca Begum mother of martyr Rakibul Hasan. To prioritize the solemnity of the event representatives from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement local journalists and teachers were prominently featured in the discussions.
Following the dialogue officials distributed prizes to local students who participated in essay writing recitation and painting competitions themed around the uprising.
The day's commemorative events concluded in the afternoon with a friendly football match at the Paikgachha Government High School field. Inaugurated by local Member of Parliament Alhaj Maulana Abul Kalam Azad the match saw the Municipality Football XI defeat the Upazila Administration Football XI 1-0. Following the final whistle Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury distributed commemorative T-shirts to all participants.
