Chapainawabganj has emerged as a surplus district in egg production. While the annual demand for eggs in the district is 260 million, production reaches 300 million, leaving a surplus of 40 million eggs. Producers are marketing the surplus to other districts.

This information was shared by Chapainawabganj District Livestock Officer Dr. Golam Mostofa during a discussion marking World Egg Day on Friday (October 10).

Under the slogan, “Eggs contain protein – eat them daily”, the district livestock department organized a rally, discussion sessions, and distributed boiled eggs to pedestrians to celebrate the day.

The discussion session was held at the conference hall of the District Livestock Office at 9:00 a.m. Speakers included Deputy Director of the District Artificial Insemination Centre Dr. Md. Amran Ali Pramanik, Shibganj Upazila Livestock Officer Shahadat Hossain, Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Sharmin Akter, and livestock service provider Abdus Salam, among others.

During a multimedia presentation, Sadar Upazila Livestock Extension Officer Dr. Shamima Nasrin highlighted various aspects of egg consumption. She emphasized that everyone should eat eggs as they are crucial for fulfilling children’s nutritional needs and play a significant role in their mental development.

Earlier, a colorful rally was held, during which boiled eggs were distributed to pedestrians.
