The government has appointed Saiful Islam, the current Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Feni, as the new Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram. The announcement came through a notification issued on Tuesday (October 15) by the Field Administration-1 Division of the Ministry of Public Administration.
The reshuffle affects four districts Chattogram, Chapainawabganj, Madaripur, and Feni. In a notable change, a previous order issued 24 days ago appointing Mohammad Abdul Awal, DC of Naogaon, as Chattogram's new DC has been cancelled before he could assume the post.
Under the new directive, Monira Haque, Deputy Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, has been appointed as DC of Feni. Mohammad Solaiman, Deputy Secretary of the Power Division, has been named DC of Chapainawabganj, while Afsana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, will now serve as DC of Madaripur.
The cancellation of Abdul Awal’s transfer and the reassignment of Saiful Islam to Chattogram has been described as a decision made on administrative grounds, according to officials from the Ministry of Public Administration.
Saiful Islam, known for his proactive leadership during his tenure in Feni, has earned recognition as a capable field-level administrator and has played a key role in several development initiatives.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Abdul Awal will continue his duties in Naogaon as per the latest government order.
