Chattogram police raided the residence of former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel based on a social media tip about a political gathering.

Authorities executed a search operation at the home of Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, the former education minister, located at Chashmahill, Gate No. 2, Sholashahar, Chattogram.

While no relatives of the former minister were present at the residence, seven young individuals found there were taken into custody for jingasabad.

The raid was carried out by the CMP's Pachlaish Thana police on Wednesday afternoon, November 12.

Md. Solaiman, the officer-in-charge of Pachlaish Thana, stated that the police learned from a Facebook post that members of the Awami League were planning to gather and meet at the house the following day, coinciding with a lockdown program initiated by the Awami League. Consequently, the police promptly initiated a search operation based on this information. However, after thoroughly searching the premises, they found no evidence of such gatherings.

Despite the absence of any family members of Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, the police apprehended seven youths who were staying at the residence for jingasabad. The individuals in custody claimed to be employees of a restaurant owned by the younger brother of the former education minister.
