


Free goats have been allocated to small ethnic communities in Phulbari, Dinajpur. The distribution of goats was initiated by the Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital to enhance the living standards of these small ethnic groups.
The goats were handed out to 196 small ethnic groups at the Upazila Parishad premises at 10:30 am on Monday, with Upazila Executive Officer Md. Ishaq Ali serving as the chief guest at the distribution ceremony.
The distribution event was presided over by Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Sarwar Hossain. Special guests included Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Samiul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulbari Police Station AKM Khandaker Mohibbul, Upazila Agriculture Officer Saif Abdullah Mostafin, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mizanur Rahman, among others.
Dr. Sarwar Hossain, the Upazila Livestock Officer, stated that a total of 392 goats have been distributed to 196 individuals in the upazila, with each receiving two goats, aimed at improving the livelihoods of small ethnic groups. He mentioned that the goats have undergone health checks and received initial treatment, and any goat that becomes ill or dies within 14 days will be replaced.
Upazila Executive Officer Ishaq Ali remarked that the government has provided these goats to assist the underprivileged small ethnic groups in enhancing their living conditions.
It is prohibited for anyone to sell or slaughter these goats for food; instead, they are intended to promote self-sufficiency through goat rearing and breeding. Local dignitaries and journalists were present during the event.
