SM Monirul Hasan Bappi has announced a strict “zero tolerance” policy against corruption, extortion, and irregularities, warning that no person involved in such activities will be spared.

The newly appointed District Council Administrator and Khulna district BNP Member Secretary made the remarks at a public reception held at Paikgachha Municipality on Saturday morning.

Speaking as the chief guest, Bappi said corruption and the long-standing culture of paying commission or "percentage" for public services must end. He assured that no one would have to pay money to get work done through him and pledged to ensure transparency and accountability.

He warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in land grabbing, extortion, or any irregularities. "If allegations are proven, the person concerned will face legal action and may also be expelled from the party," he said.

Calling for administrative neutrality, Bappi urged officials to perform their duties impartially to maintain law and order.

Referring to his recent election, he said although he was not elected, he values the support of over 1.24 lakh voters. "Their trust is my biggest achievement, and I will continue to work for them," he added.

Bappi said his priority is the development of Khulna and improving the welfare of ordinary people. He also expressed concern that people in the Khulna-6 constituency were deprived of Eid assistance and said he would try to ensure support reaches them.

Highlighting inclusive development, he said initiatives would be taken for all religious and social institutions, including mosques, madrasas, and temples, to build a harmonious and developed society.

The event, organized by local BNP units and affiliated bodies, was attended by party leaders, professionals, educational institutions representatives, and various social and cultural organizations.
