Ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election, Mahbub Alam, a candidate of the 10-party alliance, held a meeting with journalists in the Lakshmipur-1 (Ramganj) constituency.
The meeting took place at a restaurant in Ramganj upazila on Wednesday evening. During the discussion, Mahbub Alam responded to journalists’ questions and outlined his political views on protecting people’s rights.
He alleged that leaders and activists of his alliance were facing attacks and threats. “A group is attacking our leaders and workers out of fear, including firing with the intent to kill and issuing threats over phone calls,” he said.
However, he said they were not intimidated by such actions and added that voters would respond through the ballot. “The people will answer these crimes through their votes,” he said.
Mahbub Alam also called on the administration to ensure a level playing field to allow a free, fair, and credible election.
Ramganj Upazila Amir Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, General Secretary Hasan Al Banna, and local journalists were present at the meeting.
