Hasnat Abdullah, main organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) South and 10-party alliance-nominated MP candidate for Comilla-4 (Debidwar), urged voters to come out on February 12 and protect their right to vote.
Speaking on Friday (January 23) at an election rally at Dhorkara High School ground in Chouddagram Upazila’s Chiora Union, he said, “No matter what obstacles appear on the 12th, we must go to the polling station. Those thinking of interfering with the election should reconsider.”
The rally was held in support of the scale symbol. The chief guest was Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, central vice-president of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and 10-party alliance MP candidate for Comilla-11 (Chouddagram) constituency.
Hasnat Abdullah said, “For the past 17 years, we have fought for voting rights. Those attempting to manipulate the election should be cautious. InshaAllah, after February 12, we will form a government for a united Bangladesh.”
He added that his vision for the next 24 years of Bangladesh includes freedom of expression, protection of dissent, and equal rights for all citizens regardless of religion, ethnicity, or social background. He emphasized building a Bangladesh based on unity rather than division.
The rally was chaired by Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, convener of the Chiora Union Election Management Committee. Other speakers included former Central Chhatra Shibir president Zahidul Islam, joint convener of Central Youth Force Abu Sufian, Upazila Jamaat leader Mahfuzur Rahman, General Secretary Belal Hossain, Upazila Khelafate Majlis president Shah Jalal, and Md Mujibur Rahman Bhuiyan of the National Workers Welfare Federation.
