BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee stated that the interpretation of Islam by Maududiists is a misguided version.
He emphasized that the true Islam is that of Medina, which we uphold. He questioned who was responsible for writing 'Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim' in the constitution, pointing to Ziaur Rahman as the author. He then asked about the significance of Ziaur Rahman's mark, as well as those of Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and himself, identifying the rice sheaf as their symbol. He insisted on the importance of this mark, urging, 'Seal it, brother, seal the rice sheaf mark.'
These remarks were made during a youth rally supporting the rice sheaf symbol in Ward No. 14 of Lakshmipur Municipality on Sunday evening. Anee is the BNP's candidate for the Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency.
He further remarked that the elections have yet to occur, but they will take place, and representatives will emerge. He expressed confidence that the elected party will assume power, with Tarique Rahman becoming the Prime Minister of the nation. Tarique Rahman encouraged engagement with the villagers, stating, 'I will come to the people of the village.' He noted that Ziaur Rahman's affection for the villagers earned him the title of 'leader of the people,' and thus BNP is recognized as the party of the people.
Among those present were district BNP member Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, municipal BNP president Rezaul Karim Liton, BNP leader Mahbubur Rahman Liton, BFF vice-president Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, and district Chhatra Dal president Hasan Mahmud Ibrahim, among others.
