Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and the Pir of Charmonai, has called for a governance system based on Islamic principles, rejecting what he termed "justice dictated by America or India."
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally for Bhola-4 candidate Kamal Uddin at Char Fashion T.B. School ground on Sunday, the Pir criticized political parties that claim to represent Islam but hold "secret meetings" with foreign powers for political gain.
"We no longer want to see the justice of Washington or Delhi. We want the justice of Madinah and Islam," he told the crowd.
The Charmonai Pir addressed the apprehension surrounding 'Sharia' law, explaining that it encompasses the fundamental pillars of Islam, including prayer, fasting, and social justice. He argued that after 54 years of changing governments, the country has failed to achieve its core goals, and that Islam remains the only "timeless policy" for genuine change.
He also took a sharp swipe at former Islamist allies who joined past "corrupt governments," stating they cannot avoid responsibility for the country's previous decline.
The Pir concluded by urging supporters to vote for the 'Hand Fan' (Hat Pakha) symbol in the upcoming February 12 national elections.
Following the Char Fashion rally, he addressed further campaign meets in Lalmohan and Bhola Sadar.
