Mofizur Rahman Ashiq, former Joint General Secretary of the Central Chhatra Dal, has called upon voters in Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali) to support the BNP candidate on February 12 to safeguard the nation’s independence.
Speaking as the chief guest at a road meeting in Chhanua Bazar on Sunday, Ashiq urged residents to unite behind Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa, the BNP-nominated candidate. Throughout the day, Ashiq led a series of campaign stops in Bailchhari, Jaldi Municipality, and Puichhari, drawing significant crowds.
Addressing his decision not to run as a rebel candidate after being denied the nomination, Ashiq said, "The 'Sheaf of Paddy' is the symbol of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. Following the instructions of our Chairman Tarique Rahman, I have set aside personal ambition to work for the party’s victory."
Ashiq criticized "bot forces" and online groups for spreading rumors and attacking the character of BNP candidates. He also highlighted the party's election promises, including family cards for the neglected, agricultural support for farmers, and honorariums for religious leaders like Imams and Muezzins.
"BNP is the only party capable of ensuring self-reliance and true development," Ashiq added. "By electing Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa, we protect our democracy and the sovereignty of Bangladesh."
