BNP Chairman and Dhaka-17 candidate Tarique Rahman vowed Sunday to construct at least 40 new playgrounds across the capital if his party wins the upcoming February 12 national election.
Speaking at an election rally at Mirpur’s ECB Chattar, Rahman emphasized the city’s severe lack of open spaces for recreation. "Dhaka-17 and other urban areas are suffering from a shortage of adequate grounds," Rahman told the crowd. "A BNP government will prioritize building at least 40 playgrounds to ensure our children have safe places to play."
The candidate noted that the initiative isn't just for youth. The planned spaces would also serve as essential hubs for the elderly, women, and the general public to walk and exercise, promoting better community health in the densely populated capital.
As the campaign period nears its end, Rahman made a personal appeal to the voters of his constituency. "I am a child of this area," he said. "I humbly request you, your families, and your neighbors to cast your votes for the 'Sheaf of Paddy' on February 12. Give me the opportunity to serve the people of Dhaka-17."
The rally at ECB Chattar is part of a final marathon of campaign stops across Dhaka as the BNP seeks to solidify its lead in the polls ahead of Thursday's vote.
