BNP Vice Chairman Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon stated on Sunday that the upcoming national election is a critical turning point for restoring democracy in Bangladesh after 17 years of disenfranchisement.
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally at Paikgachha Government High School, Dr. Ripon emphasized that the right to vote was reclaimed through immense sacrifice. He warned that the nation’s future path—whether toward stable democracy or international isolation—depends on the outcome of this vote.
"If BNP is elected, we will build a nation based on religious tolerance and respect for all opinions," Dr. Ripon said. He urged voters to support the 'Sheaf of Paddy' (Dhaner Sheesh) symbol and vote 'Yes' in the concurrent national referendum to ensure state reforms.
Pledges for Khulna-6 SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, the BNP candidate for the Khulna-6 (Paikgachha-Koyra) constituency, addressed the long-standing neglect of the coastal region. He promised to prioritize sustainable embankments, safe drinking water, and improved healthcare services.
"I ensure you that under my representation, no citizen will face harassment from party activists. We will build a safe and developed Khulna-6 for everyone," Bappi pledged.
The rally, chaired by Upazila BNP Convener Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, saw a massive turnout of thousands of supporters. Local and district-level leaders also spoke, calling for unity to ensure a peaceful and fair election on February 12.
