Train communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh was suspended for four hours on Friday after a compartment of the Mohonganj Express derailed near Joydebpur junction around 2:00 PM.

The rear power car of the Mymensingh-bound train, carrying several hundred passengers, left the tracks suddenly near the junction.

Rescue teams quickly reached the site at 2:30 PM, and after a four-hour operation, the railway route was normalized around 6:00 PM. The affected train was able to leave the station shortly after.

Authorities are currently forming a probe body to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
