Ramadan is a month of deep spiritual significance for Muslims around the world. It is a time when Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and promise of salvation reach their highest point. No other month carries such unmatched blessings.

Hazrat Salman Al-Farsi (RA) reported that on the last day of Sha’ban, the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), addressed his companions and said: “O people, a great and blessed month has come upon you. In it is a night better than a thousand months. Allah has made fasting in this month obligatory and has encouraged night prayer as voluntary worship. Whoever draws closer to Allah through voluntary good deeds will receive the reward of an obligatory act performed in other months. And whoever performs an obligatory act in Ramadan will receive the reward of seventy obligatory acts in other months.”

The Prophet (PBUH) further explained that Ramadan is a month of patience, kindness, and generosity. During this time, the provision of believers is increased. Feeding a fasting person becomes a means of forgiveness and protection from Hellfire, and the one who provides food earns the same reward as the fasting person, without reducing the latter’s reward.

Ramadan is traditionally described in three parts: The first ten days are filled with mercy, The middle ten days bring forgiveness, The final ten days offer freedom from Hellfire.

The Prophet (PBUH) also said that those who reduce the burden of others during Ramadan will have their sins forgiven and will be saved from Hell. Anyone who gives water to a fasting person will be granted a drink from the Prophet’s fountain, Hawz-e-Kawthar, which will quench all thirst until entry into Paradise.

This single hadith clearly explains the true value of Ramadan. By following its teachings—through worship, kindness, patience, and service to others—believers can hope to earn Allah’s pleasure and eternal success. May Allah grant us the ability to benefit fully from this blessed month. Ameen.
