


As part of market monitoring ahead of the holy Ramadan, a mobile court was conducted on Thursday afternoon in the municipal market, rail market and college market of Bheramara upazila of Kushtia.
During this time, 5 shopkeepers were fined a total of 8 thousand taka to control the price of daily necessities and ensure consumer rights. The operation was conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Rafiqul Islam.
According to the mobile court sources, 5 shopkeepers were fined a warning of 8 thousand taka as per the Consumer Rights Protection Act for charging excessive prices of products and not displaying price lists.
Among them, Rezaul Karim (55), Sang-Kacharipara Bheramara was fined 2 thousand taka and Hamidul Awal (45), Sang-Naodapara, Bheramara was fined 1 thousand taka, Shri Ranjan (35), Sang-Mathpara Bheramara was fined 2 thousand taka, Aynal Haque (55), Sang-Satbaria, Bheramara was fined 1 thousand taka and Md. Mirajul Islam, Sang-Kolejpara, Bheramara was fined 2 thousand taka, a total of 8 thousand taka was collected from 5 shopkeepers. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and (Executive Magistrate) Rafiqul Islam said, It is very important to maintain stability in the market by considering the purchasing power of the common people during Ramadan. Legal action will be taken against anyone who tries to destabilize the market by charging excessive prices or hoarding and such mobile court campaigns will continue.
