A mobile court in Bheramara has fined a factory owner Tk 100,000 for manufacturing counterfeit baby food, including unlicensed juice, jelly, and yogurt. Authorities seized and destroyed a massive haul of hazardous products and raw materials during the raid on Wednesday night.
The operation was conducted in the Satbaria area of Dharampur Union, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiqul Islam and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Dr. Gazi Ashiq Bahar. Officials from BSTI and local law enforcement were also present.
Investigations revealed the factory was producing low-quality food items in unhygienic conditions. To deceive consumers, the owner used counterfeit labels of well-known brands sourced from Dhaka's Chawk Bazar.
The factory owner, Majnu Hossain (32), was fined Tk 1 lakh for endangering public health. In a separate raid in the same area, one Shahadat Hossain (42) was fined Tk 30,000 after authorities discovered a stock of unauthorized sexual stimulant drugs in his residence.
