


Police have arrested Quaid-e-Azam Bachchu, an organizer of the banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League, in a drive in the Laldighi Par area of Chattogram city. He was arrested in front of the South District Awami League office in the city on Wednesday night. The arrested youth is 26 years old. He is known to be an active organizer of the Lohagara Thana Chhatra League.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Md. Aftab Uddin said that the police received a secret tip-off that leaders and activists of the banned organization were planning to gather in the area of the Awami League party office in Laldighi Par and hold a program. Based on that information, Quaid-e-Azam Bachchu was arrested in a drive on Wednesday night.
The OC also said that there is evidence against the arrested Bachchu for his involvement in attacks on students and public participating in the student movement against discrimination. Besides, there are already three cases against him at Lohagara Police Station. Currently, the process of taking further legal action against him is underway. Meanwhile, since the incident, security has been strengthened at the South District Awami League office and the surrounding areas and special police surveillance is continuing.
