One Killed, Five Injured in Clash Over Old Dispute in Pabna’s Santhia

One person was killed and at least five others were injured in a violent clash between two groups in Santhia Upazila on Thursday afternoon. Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The clash took place around 3:00 pm in Khairbaria village under Nandanpur union. The deceased was identified as Abdul Gafur, 70.

According to local sources, tensions had been building over a previous dispute between two villagers. The situation turned violent, leading to a clash between the groups. During the confrontation, Abdul Gafur was critically injured.

He was rushed to the Santhia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Five others from both sides sustained injuries and were treated at local health facilities.

Police said three people have been detained for questioning. One of the detainees is Moen Uddin, 45, son of Abu Taleb, a resident of the same village.

Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, saying the clash stemmed from a financial dispute between Moen Uddin and the deceased’s son, Alam. “We are investigating the matter, and legal action will be taken against those involved,” he said.

Police patrols have been increased in the area to prevent further unrest.
