The Council of Advisers held a special meeting today, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at his office in Tejgaon. The meeting covered several significant government and political items.

Prayer for Begum Khaleda Zia: The meeting began with a prayer (doa) administered by Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain, seeking the swift recovery of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia.

Foreign Donations (Voluntary Activities) Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 Approved: The Council gave its in-principle and final approval to the draft ordinance. The amendment aims to simplify the NGO registration procedures and ease conditions for the release of foreign grants by modifying several sections of the current law.

A key change is that donations up to Taka 50 lakh per year will no longer require prior approval. The new law is designed to be more stakeholder-friendly.

Police Commission Ordinance, 2025 Draft: The draft of the Police Commission Ordinance, 2025, was presented during the meeting.

The Council of Advisers instructed that the draft be revised and detailed further and presented again at the next meeting.

Release of Detained Expatriates: Expatriates' Welfare Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul informed the Council about the imminent release of the remaining 24 individuals detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

These individuals were detained on allegations of participating in the July mass uprising.

They are expected to return to the country within two to three days.
