Chen Geshuang, an explorer, said most of the people were suffering from hypothermia due to the severe cold. But there should be no such weather at this time. He said he had never seen anything like this before. It happened suddenly.
Chen was a member of one of the eighteen-trapping team. Another one of his teammates, Eric Owen, said: "We only had a few tents. We took more than ten people shelter in one tent. I couldn't sleep last night. There was heavy snow. The situation was such that the team members had to clean the snow every ten minutes. Otherwise the tents would have collapsed.”
