Iran has said it is ready to hold talks with the United States and Israel to reduce tensions and move toward a diplomatic solution. However, President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that Iran will not compromise on its national rights and interests.
He made the remarks during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday (May 6), according to China’s Xinhua News Agency, citing Iran’s presidential office.
Pezeshkian also expressed strong distrust of the United States. He accused Washington of launching attacks during ongoing dialogue, describing the actions as a “stab in the back.”
Meanwhile, a report by US-based Axios said Washington and Tehran are close to agreeing on a short memorandum aimed at reducing tensions. The proposed understanding may include a temporary suspension of Iran’s uranium enrichment in exchange for partial US sanctions relief. The report also mentioned discussions on easing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz shipping route.
