CBFC Clears 'Awarapan 2' with UA 16+ Rating After Mandatory Edits

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared the highly anticipated Bollywood film Awarapan 2. Starring Emraan Hashmi the movie received a UA 16+ certificate allowing theatrical viewing for audiences aged 16 and older with parental guidance.

According to the official censor certificate dated August 5, 2026 the final approved runtime of the film is 140 minutes and 20 seconds. Presented in Hindi with English subtitles, the film was cleared only after incorporating several mandatory changes directed by the censor board.

In total the CBFC ordered four minutes of deletions and 20 seconds of replacements. The modifications require the film's producers to append clear disclaimers regarding child trafficking and drug abuse. Additionally anti-drug and anti-smoking warnings must be superimposed statically across various segments of the movie.

To comply with public broadcast standards the board ordered the removal or replacement of obscene vocabulary in both the spoken Hindi audio and English subtitles. Visual representations of extreme violence were also toned down specifically the intensity of one action sequence was halved while other violent scenes were shortened.

A brief scene depicting drug consumption was also edited. The theatrical release of Awarapan 2 remains scheduled for August 14, 2026.
