Federal authorities have charged nine individuals, including rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big 30, for the armed robbery and kidnapping of music mogul Gucci Mane. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) detailed the January 10 incident during a press briefing on Thursday.
According to U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybold, the attack occurred after Pooh Shiesty (Lontrell Williams Jr.) invited Gucci Mane and three associates to a Dallas recording studio, ostensibly to discuss recording contract terms.
Instead of a negotiation, federal prosecutors describe a "planned armed robbery." The complaint alleges the group used firearms to force a victim to sign a contract release. During the encounter, the suspects reportedly stole Rolex watches, jewelry, and cash. "One victim was even choked until they lost consciousness," Raybold stated.
The indictment alleges that Big 30 (Rodney Wright Jr.) barricaded the studio exit to prevent the victims from escaping. Investigators noted that Pooh Shiesty, 26, was supposedly under house arrest in Florida for a separate weapons case at the time of the Dallas attack. His father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is also among those charged for his alleged role in planning the crime.
In a move described by investigators as brazen, the suspects posted photos of the stolen luxury items on social media hours after the robbery. These posts were later used as key evidence.
Eight of the nine suspects have been arrested across Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Gucci Mane (Radric Davis), the founder of 1017 Records, had previously retained Pooh Shiesty on his roster even after dropping several other artists in late 2024. Representatives for the accused have not yet issued a formal statement.
