


Police have arrested four individuals and recovered locally made weapons following a clash and shooting between two rival groups in the Miakhan Nagar area under Baklia Police Station in Chattogram city.
The incident occurred on Saturday night (April 4) on the Maidarmil–School Field Road in Ward No. 19. The violence reportedly stemmed from a dispute over local dominance between the Morshed Khan and Shawkat Khan groups.
At least four people—including a CNG driver, a pedestrian and a mill worker—were injured in the clash involving gunfire and sharp weapons. The injured are Hasan (26), Fahim (12), Jasim (24) and Ismail Mia (50).
They are currently receiving treatment in Ward No. 2 of Chittagong Medical College Hospital, with doctors describing their condition as serious.
The arrested individuals are Abu Kausar (20), Md. Sajib (19), Syed Sumon (20) and Md. Babla (19).
Officer-in-Charge of Baklia Police Station, Mohammad Solaiman, said police recovered a country-made shotgun, two rounds of ammunition and two knives from the scene and during follow-up operations.
A case has been filed with Baklia Police Station based on a written complaint, naming 14 individuals along with 10–12 unidentified suspects.
Police have also filed a separate case under the Arms Act against absconding accused Md. Faruk Hossain after weapons and bullets were recovered from his residence.
