State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. MA Muhith, announced on Sunday that the government is taking swift action to address vaccine shortages across the country.
"We are identifying areas with shortages and taking immediate responsibility to fill those gaps," the State Minister said. "The vaccination program has started and will continue without further interruption. We will not face any more shortages."
Dr. Muhith made these remarks while inaugurating an emergency measles and rubella vaccination campaign for children at Mirzapur Union Parishad in Gazipur Sadar. He urged the public to cooperate and raise awareness, noting that increasing vaccine coverage is essential for collective safety.
The minister highlighted that the program is currently active in 30 upazilas across 18 districts. He emphasized that all decisions are data-driven and guided by a national expert committee.
"We collect daily data from across the country to identify the most affected upazilas," Dr. Muhith explained. "Our steps are based on scientific evidence and advice from experts, with support from UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO)."
Dr. Muhith assured the public that the government and local representatives are prioritizing child health. "Our goal is simple: no child will be left behind. There is no reason to fear," he stated. He encouraged those participating in the campaign to urge their neighbors and relatives to bring their children for vaccination.
The event was attended by M Manjurul Karim Rony (MP, Gazipur-2), Rafiqul Islam Bachchu (MP, Gazipur-3), the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner, the Police Superintendent, the District Civil Surgeon, and UNICEF officials.
