Emergency Measles-Rubella Vaccination Drive Launched in Gazipur

State Minister for Health Dr. MA Muhith launched an emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign in Gazipur today. The program was inaugurated on Sunday (April 5) morning at the Bhawal Mirzapur Union Parishad premises in Gazipur Sadar.

The inauguration was attended by Gazipur-2 MP M Manjurul Karim Rony, Gazipur-3 MP Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, the Civil Surgeon, and representatives from the Ministry of Health, WHO, and UNICEF.

"Ensuring the vaccination of our children is essential for national health security," the State Minister stated. "We are working diligently to ensure there is no shortage of vaccines, with the support of international health organizations."

He emphasized that the government is prioritizing the rapid supply of vaccines to areas with shortages and called for public cooperation to make the campaign a success.

According to the District Civil Surgeon, the 15-day drive aims to vaccinate 28,000 children aged six months to five years across Gazipur. The program covers Gazipur Sadar, Tongi, Konabari, Kashimpur, Kaliakair, Sreepur, Kapasia, Kaliganj, and Pubail.

This emergency initiative is part of a broader campaign currently active in 30 upazilas across 18 districts. Temporary vaccination centers have been established in various unions and wards to ensure maximum coverage.
