A day-long 'Job Fair' was held at Pabna Government Edward College on Sunday, attracting hundreds of aspiring youth. The event was organized under the REIS project, funded by the World Bank and the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), with supervision from the Bangladesh Government.
More than 40 national and local employers, including industry giants like Square Toiletries, Hero MotoCorp, PRAN-RFL, and BDJobs, set up stalls at the college’s degree ground. Approximately 400 trained youths participated, engaging in direct interviews and career counseling sessions.
The event’s discussion meeting was chaired by Shafiqul Alam, Executive Director of PCD. Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman attended as the chief guest, while Additional Superintendent of Police Shariful Islam was the special guest. Golam Jilani, Sub-Project Coordinator of the REIS project, delivered the welcome address.
Prominent attendees included Professor Md. Kalimuddan of Government Edward College and representatives from various technical and developmental organizations. Following the discussion, guests inaugurated the fair by cutting a ribbon and touring the stalls.
Beyond recruitment, the fair featured live CV reviews and exhibitions by young entrepreneurs. Certificates were also distributed to graduates who completed a six-month apprenticeship program under the project.
Organizers—Pabna Promosi, PCD, and Osaka—emphasized that such initiatives bridge the gap between skilled manpower and employers, ultimately boosting the local economy. Participating job seekers expressed high satisfaction with the opportunity for direct employer interaction.
