Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) observed July Martyrs’ Day on Sunday with a discussion titled "July Uprising State Democracy and Citizen Rights."

Speaking as the chief guest, MBSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam highlighted the uprising's profound impact on national life. He urged the youth to draw lessons from history to help build a humane accountable and just state.

"The lessons of this movement regarding statecraft democracy and civil rights must be passed on to the new generation" Dr. Islam stated during the event at the Third Academic Building.

The discussion was chaired by Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal Nasir, Convener of the July Uprising Celebration Committee. Professor Dr. Md. Fazlul Karim delivered the keynote address, while Bangladesh Public Service Commission Member Professor Dr. Chowdhury Saima Ferdous served as the lead discussant.

Following the dialogue university authorities honored the families of the July Uprising martyrs including the mother and sister of Shaheed Ahnaf Abir Ashraful.

The university also formally recognized four gazetted students injured during the July-August movement—Md. Forkan Hossain, Imran Hossain Nadvi, Ashraful Alam Hridoy and Mehedi Hasan Rakib—alongside senior drivers Aynal Hossain and Md. Zahidul Islam for their active contributions. The event brought together faculty students officials and martyr families in a unified reflection on democratic struggles and civic duty.
