Cautionary Signal 3 Issued for Bangladesh Maritime Ports

Bangladesh authorities have advised the maritime ports of Chattogram Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted. This alert follows the intensification of a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent Odisha-West Bengal coasts into a monsoon depression.

As of noon on July 26, 2026 the depression was centered approximately 425 km west-southwest of Chattogram 415 km west of Cox's Bazar 245 km west-southwest of Mongla and 265 km west-southwest of Payra. The weather system is expected to move northwestward and intensify further.

Due to this depression squally weather may impact Bangladesh's maritime ports the North Bay and adjoining coastal regions. Maximum sustained wind speeds within 44 km of the depression's center are currently at 40 kph with gusts or squalls rising to 50 kph.

While the sea will remain moderate near the center of the depression prioritizing public safety is essential. Authorities have mandated that all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay take immediate shelter and remain safely docked until further notice.
