


A day-long workshop on the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) for the development of Lohagara Municipality was held at the Lohagara Upazila Hall Room on Tuesday (June 16).
Organized by the World Bank, the event was presided over by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Lohagara Municipal Administrator Sushmita Saha, who also attended as the chief guest.
Environmental Specialist Ahsan Imam, team leader of the World Bank delegation, presented the keynote address and concept paper. Other World Bank delegates in attendance included Architect Farhana Islam, Office Engineer Mahmud Shamsur Rahman, Social Management Specialist Tariqul Islam, and Md. Hasibul Haque. Lohagara Municipal Secretary Md. Taufiqul Islam was also present to represent the local government.
The event drew a diverse group of stakeholders, including local government officials, political leaders, social workers, women entrepreneurs, and journalists.
During the workshop, participants identified several key infrastructure needs to improve civic services for residents. Major priorities discussed included the construction of a new municipal building, public toilets, parks, and a local supermarket, alongside broader upgrades to the town's drainage network and road infrastructure.
