State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit announced on Sunday that Bangladesh currently holds a three-month supply of petrol and octane. Speaking at the Secretariat, the Minister assured the public that additional imports are being processed to maintain these stock levels.
"We have sufficient reserves to meet the fuel demand for April," the State Minister confirmed, adding that strategic stocks are being reinforced to ensure a steady three-month buffer.
Regarding imports, the Minister noted that the government is actively securing shipments for the next quarter. A significant development involves ongoing discussions regarding Russian oil. According to the State Minister, the government is optimistic that the U.S. administration will grant a sanction waiver for Bangladesh.
"The Foreign Minister recently met with the U.S. Energy Minister. We are hopeful that the Trump administration will allow Bangladesh to import oil from Russia," Amit stated.
The Minister also revealed that authorities have recovered 400,000 liters of fuel oil during recent drives across the country. Addressing agricultural concerns, he directed District Administrators to intervene immediately if farmers face any difficulties in accessing fuel for irrigation or machinery.
