Inmate Facing Multiple Charges Dies in Rajbari Prison

A 42-year-old inmate facing multiple criminal charges died on Friday after suddenly falling ill at the Rajbari District Prison.

The deceased Tushar Biswas son of Shashadhar Biswas from Naora Bongram Notunpara in Pangsha upazila was an accused in seven ongoing cases involving murder with weapons possession and assault.

According to Rajbari District Prison Jailer Md. Mamunur Rashid, Tushar complained of severe chest pain shortly after breakfast at around 11:00 AM. He was immediately given first aid at the prison hospital. However as his condition rapidly deteriorated and authorities rushed him to Rajbari Sadar Hospital but he died in transit.

Dr. Mohammad Farhad Hossain, a medical officer at the emergency department of Rajbari Sadar Hospital, confirmed that the inmate was brought in dead. "We officially confirmed his death through an ECG test upon arrival" he stated.

The body has been transferred to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Prison officials noted that the definitive cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is available.

Records show Tushar was facing six cases filed at Pangsha Police Station and one at Goalanda Ghat Police Station. He had previously secured bail in three of those cases.
