Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the poor quality of civic services and the lack of visible development in Laxmipur Municipality.

Speaking at a reception at the District Bar Association auditorium on Friday afternoon minister accused municipal officials of neglecting their duties.

"Despite having the opportunities that they are failing to address critical infrastructure needs with water bodies, drainage and road renovations. I have not seen any visible progress" Anee stated. He issued a stern warning that anyone found engaging in corruption during the implementation of government projects will not be spared.

Alongside his critique the minister highlighted several major regional development initiatives. Praising Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Anee noted the swift establishment of Chandraganj Upazila. He also reassured residents that the long-awaited Laxmipur railway line once considered an impossible dream is advancing and will soon become a reality.

Furthermore, he announced that a nursing institute and a medical college have been approved for Laxmipur and the district is set to receive an independent university.

The reception was presided over by Advocate AKM Humayun Kabir, former president of the Bar Association. Key attendees included Zilla Parishad Administrator Sahab Uddin Sabu, eminent lawyer Advocate Syed Shamsul Alam, Laxmipur Government College Principal Md. Yusuf, former Tumchar Madrasa principal Harun Al Madani and prominent educationist Professor ZM Farooqui.
