


Laxmipur Municipality has launched a dustbin installation drive under the theme "We are committed to building a clean, tidy and livable city." The program began Monday afternoon with dustbins installed along the roadside in the city's Chawk Bazar area.
Municipal authorities said 200 plastic dustbins will be placed across the city at a cost of Tk.15 lakh.
Municipality Administrator Samrat Khisa presided over the event, while Deputy Commissioner SM Mehedi Hasan inaugurated the program as chief guest. Also present were Laxmipur Banik Samity General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Front District Convener Dr. Ratna Dwip Pal and Laxmipur Press Club President AHM Mostaqur Rahman.
Samrat Khisa said the initiative aims to make Laxmipur green and clean, with dustbins to be installed throughout the municipality. He urged residents to dispose of waste in designated bins.
SM Mehedi Hasan called waste management a key part of modern city administration mentioning that proper use of the dustbins by residents would help. He added that separating recyclable and non-recyclable waste at the source would help prevent air and environmental pollution in the city.
