Non-governmental organization (NGO) Mamata has been awarded the national ‘Best Non-Governmental Organization’ title for its outstanding contributions to maternal and child healthcare.
President Md. Shahabuddin presented the award to Mamata’s Chief Executive Officer, Ekushey Padak laureate Rafiq Ahamad, during the World Population Day ceremony at Dhaka’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Sunday. Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain also attended the event.
This marks the 18th time Mamata has received this prestigious national honor. Beyond the national recognition, Mamata also secured the 'Best NGO' awards at both the Chittagong divisional and district levels. Deputy CEO Touhid Ahmed and Senior Consultant Dr. Morsheda Begum accepted the regional awards.
Reflecting on the achievement, CEO Rafiq Ahamad stated that Mamata has been a dedicated partner to the government in family planning and maternal health for over four decades.
"Receiving this recognition is a proud moment for us and the people of Chittagong. Everyone in Chittagong shares in this honor," Ahamad said.
The organization extended its gratitude to its extensive network of medical officers, nurses, paramedics, and outreach workers for their tireless dedication to public health.
