Large crowds gathered at the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge in Munshiganj early Monday (July 13) to welcome Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as he traveled to Barisal.
Since dawn, citizens, local leaders, and activists carrying banners and national flags have lined the expressway and toll plaza, creating a festive atmosphere. Law enforcement agencies have tightened security across key transit points while maintaining normal traffic flow for the public.
Upon reaching Barisal, the Prime Minister will launch a regional tree plantation initiative and hold a view-exchange meeting with local party leaders. During the visit, he is expected to deliver a policy speech focusing on regional development, environmental conservation, and grassroots organizational goals.
Advocate Abdus Salam Azad MP, representing Munshiganj-2 and Joint Secretary General of the BNP Central Executive Committee, highlighted the significance of the tour. "The Prime Minister’s visit is not merely a formal program; it drives a crucial initiative for greening the country and connecting directly with grassroots activists," he stated. Azad emphasized that the PM's focus on environmental protection sets a strong example for future generations, while his engagement with the southern region will help bridge government development plans with public expectations.
Local administration and law enforcement have finalized all logistical preparations to ensure the Prime Minister's visit proceeds smoothly amidst the massive regional turnout.
