New Curriculum Focused on Practical Skills The Bangladesh government is overhauling its education system to replace rote learning with practical, skill-based education. Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj announced that the upcoming 2027 curriculum will provide teacher guides, workbooks, remedial materials, and video lessons alongside standard textbooks to support classroom learning.

The new framework aims to foster problem-solving, leadership, and creativity while integrating cultural and sports education to teach history, heritage, and discipline. Prioritizing teacher training, the curriculum is designed to be effectively implemented across 65,000 government primary schools without putting excessive academic pressure on students.

Severe Floods Suspend Chattogram Exams Meanwhile, ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations have faced severe natural and administrative disruptions. Worsening floods have forced the Chattogram Education Board to suspend all HSC and equivalent exams until July 16. This suspension affects examinees in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachhari. Prime Minister's Education Adviser Mahdi Amin confirmed that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is continuously monitoring the disaster response and has directed all ministries to prioritize and intensify local relief operations.

Students Vandalize Exam Center in Bhola In a separate incident in Bhola’s Charfesson upazila, hundreds of HSC examinees vandalized the Fatema Matin Women's College following what they claimed was a disproportionately difficult Information and Communication Technology (ICT) exam. Protesting students, who alleged that invigilators refused to assist them during the test, broke gates, shattered windows, and threw eggs into the campus.

The violent unrest left at least seven people injured, including teachers and the college governing body president. Police deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd and restore order. All exam answer scripts were safely secured and transported to the post office, and local authorities stated that legal action will be taken if formal complaints are filed.
