Sunamganj-3 MP Mohammad Koychar Ahmed said children are the future of the nation and must be prepared to take responsibility for society. He stressed that they should be educated with care and compassion, while parents must also share responsibility alongside teachers to improve the quality of education.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony following the final match of the Upazila Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament (boys and girls), held on Saturday afternoon at the Shantiganj Upazila Mini Stadium.

Addressing Union Parishad chairmen, he said they have a major responsibility as guardians of schools, teachers, and students. He urged them to give equal attention to all schools in their areas and closely monitor both education and sports activities. According to him, better education will also enhance the reputation of the union.

In the boys’ final, Yakub Ali Kamrupdalong Government Primary School of Joykals Union became champions by defeating Jibdara Government Primary School of Shimulbak Union. In the girls’ final held earlier on Thursday, Kamaria Government Primary School narrowly defeated Ganinagar Government Primary School to claim the title.

Later, MP Koychar Ahmed distributed prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.

The ceremony was presided over by Shantiganj Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Shahjahan and moderated by Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Headmaster of Rathpara Government Primary School. Dargapasha Union Parishad Chairman Sufi Mia also spoke at the event.

Upazila administration officials, law enforcement representatives, and local BNP leaders and activists were present.
