The Detective Branch (DB) of police has dismantled an inter-district motorcycle theft ring in Louhajang, arresting four individuals and recovering five stolen motorcycles along with a significant haul of narcotics.
Munshiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Menhazul Alam detailed the operation during a press briefing at the Padma Setu North Police Station on Monday morning.
The investigation was launched following a motorcycle theft in the Paschim Kumarbhog area on July 9. Acting on intelligence, a DB team first arrested a suspect named Suman in Narayanganj's Nitaiganj area. Information provided by Suman led to the subsequent arrests of Hridoy Dewan and Sajib Paik in Munshiganj's Tongibari upazila.
Further raids in Louhajang’s Goali Manda area resulted in the recovery of more stolen motorcycles and the arrest of suspected drug dealer Alauddin. During this operation, police seized 1,100 Yaba pills and two kilograms of marijuana from his possession.
SP Alam confirmed that drives are ongoing to apprehend remaining members of the syndicate, and legal proceedings against the arrestees are currently underway. Senior police officials, including Additional SP (Crime and Ops) Kamran Hossain and Padma Bridge North Police Station OC Syed Mohammad Akhter Hossain, attended the briefing.
