Elderly Man Arrested for Rape of Disabled Girl in Munshiganj

Police have arrested an elderly man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old disabled girl in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj. The suspect was apprehended early Thursday morning.

The arrested individual has been identified as Al Mamun Faraji. Originally from Charbadkati village in Patuakhali's Baufal upazila, he had been currently residing in Bashira village under Louhajang.

According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on Tuesday in Bashira village. The accused allegedly lured the girl to a nearby cornfield with the promise of money and assaulted her while no one else was around. Local residents realized something was wrong and rescued the victim shortly after, but the suspect managed to flee the scene.

Louhajang Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Monirul Islam confirmed the details of the arrest. "The victim was lured into a cornfield near her home with the promise of money," the OC stated. "The victim's mother filed a formal complaint on the night of April 22.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, we arrested the suspect at around 5:00 a.m Thursday. The process of sending him to court is currently underway."
